Merriweather Cafe, South Brisbane

Merriweather's incredible barley, oats and rye porridge (that's Thich Nhat Hanh's book in the back!)

It's been a while since I've profiled a cafe on the blog, but one stop at Merriweather Cafe in South Brisbane near Musgrave Park and the Brisbane Convention Centre has changed that. Beautiful furniture, seasonal and simple food done well, lovely staff: it's a winner.

The best of breakfast includes mushrooms, kale, poached eggs and duck ham and the delicious barley, oats and rye porridge with poached pear. All their dishes include ingredients sourced from the neighbourhood like local vegetables from Food Connect, local honey from Bee One Third in West End and coffee is roasted at its sibling cafe Cup Coffee Roasters in Woollongabba. It's delicious, it's quality, I'm excited! Get there!
